WICONA Facades at the Hampton by Hilton Barcelona Fira Gran Vía
The new Hampton by Hilton Fira Gran Vía located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) is a project spearheaded by Alonso Balaguer Arquitectes Associats. The plot on which it is built has an irregular quadrilateral shape, with a slight ascending slope from its main side (southeast) to its rear side (northwest). The hotel, which is still under construction, has 12 floors above ground and two underground floors, on a square 28 x 28 metre base.
“The architectural approach is as simple and convincing as the execution thereof: a prismatic structure with a Ground Floor + 11. The first two smaller floors are retracted and allow the structure and the ground to come together. The facade has been finished with WICONA´s WICTEC 50 curtain wall with a modulation of highly vertical uprights and crosspieces that make the building appear taller, thereby improving its integration with the buildings around it, which are significantly taller. The dark grey glass forms the enclosure plane on which the white-profile frame is superimposed.”

The hotel's layout has been designed with a central core with vertical communications, around which the different areas are located; the rooms at the top of the tower and the communal services on the ground floor and basements. On the ground floor, accessible from the street and through the square that surrounds the building, is where the lobby, the reception, the bar and the Living Zone are. These spaces have been designed to be highly visible from the outside so that their completely transparent facade stands out from the uses of the underground floors, buried in the basement, with their solid facade; and the uses of the upper floors, where the facade skin offers privacy.
The new Hampton by Hilton has a total of 241 double rooms spread out around the perimeter of the floor, with its central part being used for vertical communication and the horizontal transit areas being used to access each of the rooms. Thanks to this design, all rooms have an abundance of natural light and views overlooking the city.
