Architecture designs the renovation of the 111 Wall Street skyscraper in New York with WICONA facades.
Using WICONA's unitized WICTEC EL evo facade, the 111 Wall Street tower has been completely redeveloped, adding versatility with and premium amenities.
The internationally renowned STUDIOS Architecture firm has been commissioned to carry out the renovation of the 111 Wall Street building, which is owned by NPG and InterVest Capital Partners. The refurbishment of the tower, located at the head of New York City's world-famous Wall Street financial district, included the renovation of the envelope of the 25-story structure. Originally built in 1966, the façade has been fully replaced with WICONA's WICTEC EL evo wall system. In addition, there has been a complete overhaul of the interiors including a large expansion of the lobby area. Overall, 96,000 square meters of space has been refurbished, resulting in the building gaining the highest energy efficiency rating and top-tier facilities, trans-forming this waterfront skyscraper into a healthier, smarter, and more energy efficient facility.
WICTEC EL evo facades by WICONA insuring unrivalled panoramic views over New York
The tower has undergone a complete redesign and they now benefit from an abundance of natural sunlight thanks to WICONA’S WICTEC EL evo unitized facade, a system that adapts seamlessly to the specific requirements of each building project. In this case, the electrochromic View smart glazing used on the facade controls the sunlight entering the space from inside the building. The exterior aesthetics of the building consists of a curtain wall with large, glazed panels, spanning from one floor slab to the next, with large-format vertical and smaller horizontal panels to give the structure a slimline look. WICTEC EL evo has thus enabled the interior to seamlessly merge with the outside and enjoy the superb panoramic views of Brook-lyn, the East River, and waterfront, stimulating creativity and inspiration among the people who work there.
WICTEC EL evo is an innovative unitized facade system that can be individually adapted to project specific requirements. Elements are manufactured in controlled workshop environments without being affected by external factors such as the weather, resulting in consistently high quality and a fast efficient, and controlled assembly on site. The system consists of aluminium composite profiles with excellent thermal insulation, formed through quality assured and monitored production. An all new drainage system accommodates slab edge deflections using patented “spring gasket” technology at horizontal joints between elements without compromising the profile design. This allows narrow frame sight lines to be used, even with extreme building movements.
The building's redesign has prioritized providing its occupants with the most exclusive amenities, focusing on both their professional and personal wellbeing. The skyscraper has a dining room, a coffee bar (which doubles as a cocktail bar in the evenings for special events), a Forum that serves as a conference centre, or co-working facility, a boardroom and a free gymnasium with changing rooms, showers, exercise equipment and supervised lessons for occupants. The building also has parking for up to 170 bicycles, charging stations for 20 electric scooters and easy access to countless transport links.
